Every year I try to find a sporting challenge to a) give myself a goal, and b) to try to push myself. I had decided that I wanted to do a cycling challenge this year, after doing several previously but was unsure on who to support. After meeting Emma Cross, of the Trust's North West Fundraiser at a dinner in March, I immediately knew that I had found my charity.
Many families will at some point have their, 'what if it happens to us' moment, some unfortunately may have had it already. Me and my wife have a 9 year old son and we do not know what we would do if that moment ever came to us. But, now that we have met Emma and know that the Trust is there and what they are able to do, we know who to turn to if if that dreaded day comes.
I have plotted a route around Cumbria that will take me to the majority of the county's towns, as well as doing most of the infamous 'climbs' that cyclists thrive to conquer. The full route will be approximately 400 miles with around 25,000ft of climbs, and should take 5 days to complete. Please feel free to donate to the Trust but this challenge is not necessarily about raising funds, as long as we make sure that people know that the Trust are there if ever anyone needs to get in touch. It's about awareness too. Further details are available at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/nick-hood10
If anyone would like to join me on any part of the challenge, please feel free to get in touch so we can arrange this, I may need some encouragement on the big hills!!!! firstname.lastname@example.org
Please also feel free to contact email@example.com for information on the trust.
